Meximas — Jess’ take

Alex and Jess make it back to the states on Jan 3, with only minor flesh wounds, after successfully navigating the world’s 3rd longest peninsula.

The guidelines of the trip were few and loose: they had airline tickets between Denver and San Diego for Dec. 25 and Jan 3, a rental car reservation in Tijuana on Dec 26, and a strong desire to party with Sammy Hagar in Cabo sometime on or around New Year’s. The rest of the itinerary easily filled itself in with fresh seafood and taco stands, beach time, sightseeing, and of course driving (Alex and Jess realize the irony of two people who hate driving, and go to great lengths to avoid it all together, joining forces for a 2200 mile road trip).

Alex’s proficiency in Spanish proved useful on countless occasions, especially in dealings with Mexican police and at military checkpoints. Alex handled the minor misunderstanding with the police surrounding the ownership of our rental car with ease as Jess confirmed that Alex’s gift of drunken, long-winded speech and hand gesturing does indeed transcend language barriers.
