match.com observations

I’ve been cruising around on match.com recently, and a few general themes have stood out. These observations are extremely unscientific and probably very specific to the Front Range, so take ‘em with a grain of salt.

The minimum height requirement for guys is 5’10″. Something like over 80% of the profiles I’ve viewed claim to be searching for a guy who is 5’10″, which is fine, because as long as you’re making a checklist of your ideal mate, why not specify everything you want, down to the last inch? (Yes, there’s an R joke in there, but it’s an asteroid, ok Ben Affleck?)

There are a lot of single mothers in Loveland, Greeley, and Longmont; fewer in Fort Collins; and an order of magnitude less in Denver and Boulder. Average age? Approximately 25. The number of women who claim to love Jesus and claim that faith is very important in their lives is also highest in Loveland, Greeley, and Longmont. I’ll let you decide the significance of that coincidence.

This is my favorite: just about every girl claims to be the most extreme set of walking contradictions. They can all go out and play hard in the mountains and then dress up for an evening out. Everyone loves hiking but also loves curling up on the couch to watch tv occasionally. They love a night out on the town… or a quiet evening making dinner. It’s so crazy! I mean, how can one person do and be so many different things? I guess writing, “I’m just like everyone else” doesn’t fill up enough space in their profile.

Ever wonder why gas prices go up in the summer? Increased demand? Well, duh, of course, but why is there increased demand? Oh, it’s because every single Front Range girl is taking a road trip! Road trip! Everyone loves road trips!

By the same token, you’ll quickly notice that everyone hates travelling. Did I write “hate”? Sorry, I meant LOVES! It makes me happy to know that many girls enjoy fun.

ps, yoga is not a sport.
