perfect friday

I’ve been burning firewood this winter as a primary form of heat. It’s quite satisfying to wake up to still-hot coals and start the day’s burn without any tinder save for a single sheet of wadded up newspaper; makes you feel like a real frontiersman.

Instead of participating in a celebration of consumerism as is tradition, I instead donated a bunch of items to the local thrift store. Along the way, I also scored a better-than-average stash of used books for my collection. Between the books and an end table, I spent $24, but the value of my donation was near $80, so I think I can claim the moral high ground.

An old friend moved in today for a few months. I believe I’ve captured the essence of the man completely in this photo.

A totally excellent Friday by any measure.
