wooden wisdom
This weekend saw the successful celebration of Chiangsgiving IV. We ate a 20 lb. turkey (augmented with 1.5 lbs of bacon (nb, the bacon:turkey ratio went up this year by several %)), drank somewhere north of 10–12 bottles of wine, polished off 2 bottles of fine Irish Whiskey, and something like half of a quarter-barrel of beer.
As always, the sides were amazing; we had an interesting horseradish cranberry sauce and several outstanding pies.
A lifetime achievement rosham award (prize: personal honor) was handed out after watching someone eat a mouthful of bacon grease which has been sitting on my counter for several months.
I like to think of Chiangsgiving as the New Hampshire primary of the winter eating season. I did hear rumours of an even earlier celebration a week ago, but the official party position is that it was an unsanctioned event, just like the stunt that Michigan tried to pull this year, and look where Michigan is now. Let that be a warning to all.
