one wedding down

Filed under: dreck — alex @ 11:52 am

tetons, 2

Spent last weekend in Jackson Hole for a high school friend’s wedding. Beautiful place; I’d never been there before. Of course, now I have to go back to do some climbing (aka, a “real” trip). Starting to build up quite a pile of those…

Nice to see that among the friend circle, no one has gotten fat. Yes, I’m shallow, but admit it — that’s the only reason you would go back to your 10 year reunion too.

This weekend: San Francisco. Weekend after: Estes Park. Bleah, too much travel.

a good looking bunch

michael vick, who cares?

Filed under: dreck — alex @ 12:02 pm

The CSM says Vick may face long road back to the gridiron because of his dogfighting.

I suppose I should know the answer by now, but really, I’m still confounded by the question, “why do people care?” Sure, we love celebrities in America, so their actions are going to dominate the headlines. But I’m having a hard time understanding why dogfights are so evil, compared to selling drugs, shooting other players, stabbing your teammate in the knee, etc.

Why waste all that energy worrying about dogs? They’re just dogs.

breaking the summer hiatus

Filed under: dreck — alex @ 7:55 am

Jinkies, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Typical summer hiatus, neh?

In a word, it’s been busy, but in a good way. Thanks to my friends for coming out and visiting. You know who you are. For my friends in the Fort, thanks for being there. You make life worth living.

In geek-land, I’ve been going into sponge mode, trying to absorb as much information as possible for all things Linux. The amount I know now compared to 3 months ago is staggering, and it’s starting to show. Look for a git log coming soon.

Summer’s not really over, but it kinda is. The next three weekends for me are filled with weddings. First up is Jackson Hole. Then a weekend in San Francisco. Finally, one for the home crowd up in Estes Park.

Didn’t do as much climbing or biking as I would have liked, but it’s all just a balancing act anyhow. Continue to expect sporadic updates here, hopefully settling into a schedule by mid-September.
