it’s not the size that counts…

Read an interesting article about a new theory that claims a mutation caused monkey jaw muscles to become underdeveloped. This, in turn allowed the skull to expand, and consequently, the brain to get bigger. Bigger brains then led to the human branch of the evolutionary tree.

Interesting thought, but then I immediately wondered why humans are not under the control of super-intelligent whale and elephant overlords, I figured that lots of smarter people have already done research on this topic. Sure enough, google found this article on the correlation between brain size and intelligence.

Interesting stuff.
